Rotax Flying & Safety Club

Welcome to the official website of the Rotax Flying & Safety Club (RFSC). The RFSC is based in Nassau, Bahamas. We are the Rotax approved training organization that is responsible for Independent Rotax Maintenance Technician (iRMT) training in the the United States, Central and South Americas. There are currently 9 independent Training Centres (iTC) throughout this area. North Africa has an regional head office, located in Ghana. The RFSC and it's iTC lead the world in amount of iRMT’s trained each year.

A Brief History

The Rotax Flying Club was founded by Eric Tucker in 1990. Mr. Tucker has been teaching Rotax technicians since 1984. He developed and implemented the first training programme. In 2002, he was asked to investigations and the name changed to the Rotax Flying and Safety Club. Mr Tucker has long believed that a global standardized training programme would be beneficial for aircraft engine technicians and an asset for Rotax engine owners. Finally, working with Rotax, the official iRMT programme was launched in 2008.

A Higher Standard

With an 80% or higher pass requirement, the courses meet the training requirements set by the FAA. However, what is different is that we offer a standardized training programme in all iTCs and every 2 years the technicians are required to update their training. This makes sure that technicians are always up to date with the latest information, bulletins and procedures. In turn this gives owners an additional level confidence when selecting a technician to work on their engine.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our system. As of August, 2012 you would have noticed a new website. It is much more than just a bold new look. One of our flaws has been processing student information in a timely fashion. In the old style we had to wait for instructors to send records, photos and exam results. The new website now keeps track of all that. It also generates the Certificates and Membership Cards. Students prior to this change, we are working to add your information into the database and get the outstanding cards and certificates out. Our goal is to be fully complete and up to date by the end of this year.
